80cc big bore with 24mm racing carb
« on: March 06, 2011, 08:02:49 PM »
i have the 50cc kymco super 8 and i have bought i 24mm racing carb, it comes with a "pancake" air filter (scoped out) for more air, it comes with 3 jets 85. 95, 110. (this racing carb is for a 50-80cc moped) so is it worth me buying a top end 80cc big bore kit for improved peformance. how much more peformance will i be getting with these two add-ons?
btw it has been fully de-restricted
many thanks :D

The racing carb is going to give you a bit more kick, but the 80cc bbkit would give you a hell of a bump.  You would need to make sure you have a decent matching racing exhaust to go with it though.  The TK exhaust for the 50cc is quite nice btw.

Now, if you push the envelope too far, you are going to need an upgraded final drive shaft... not an easy thing to get and could be pricey.  If you haven't touched the variator, rollers, or clutch... that's going to be your next area to upgrade, possibly prior to the bbkit.  You could get an 80cc engine to top out close to 55 or so.  Just curious... what other mods have you done?

With no other mods out of that, I'm thinking you will be pushing 40mph.  What kind of top end are you looking for out of the Super8, just curious more than anything there.

The Honda elite 80cc 4 stroke will reportedly reach 48-50 mph . I doubt if you will significantly surpass that , and your reliability will probably suffer . Good luck .

what other mods does it have, or is it just 80cc bbk, my 50cc super 8 goes around 42mph atm, so if i add the 24mm racing carb, with a 110 jet, and a 80cc bbk, what speed well i be getting tops?

I don't know about the Super 8, but with the ZX50, the 82cc kit and 24mm oko carby goes well beyond 80, it is off the speedo and down to the bottom of the fuel gauge. Allowing 10kmh for speedo error that these scoots are notorious for, I put my top speed at around 100kmh, or 62miles per hour.

Sorry, I thought the Super 8 was a two stroke.
