Need for speed.

I'm put 3000 kilometers on my People 150 in 3 months. I am totally addicted to riding it. I absolutely loathe driving my car to work now.

So...in the coming months I'm hoping to do some engine mods. From what I'm understanding it comes down to upgrading the exhaust and carb systems. But in all my searching I haven't really run across a variator/carb kit.

So, where do I look? And a better question would be, what's the optimum set-up?

  I havn't had time to mess with the p150 yet,but the s200 is similar. I would go open airbox and go up on the jetting. drill a few holes at the back of the pipe. I have found these mods to make it quicker but no real boost in top speed I think the gearing will limmit that no matter what you do.  Or go to a big bore kit. Thanks Art. I want that Malossi kit, like yesterday. It seems like a great buy for the money. I'm really looking for more mid-level pick-up rather than top speed anyway.

  You should be happy with that then and some minor tweeks, I was looking for top end and fell a bit short of my mark  :D 0 to 50 is nice though!  One problem with that kit is they change the roller weight size on you to a 20x17mm so keep that in mind when you order may need a size up or down for your bike. I think it came with a 12g set.

How difficult/easy are these kits to install. I'm pretty handy, but I'm not mechanic.

I hate to be the one to bring this up. .  .but do you really want to possibly void at least some aspect of your 2-year warranty to get a power boost that'll likely be between barely measurable and almost noticeable?

When you're on your deathbed, I'm not sure if your scooter had 13.1 or 13.7 HP will make any difference.

It might not. I have heard of adrenaline junkies that just love the rush and want to go as fast as they can as often as they can.

Rianna, I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but if you get onto a vehicle cranking out 14 BHP, don't be surprised if your heart can't pump blood to your extremities.

There's an NHRC exhaust from Scooterworks at http://www.scooterworks.com/NHRC-Carbon-Exhaust-People-150-P6202.aspx for $280-290, a clutch from Adige through Parts Unlimited dealers (part 1131-0905) for $90.95, Dr Pulley Slider and Kevlar belts on top of the variator already pointed out.  I've got a Malossi belt and Dr Pulley rollers, feel like my acceleration has greatly improved (and for a 220lb guy that a nice feeling).  I've also seen luck replacing the air intake jet on the Super8 150 in the same way that it works on the vespa et4/lx150s, so that could work as well but wouldn't help your top speed any.

By the way, I'm more of a tinkerer than a speed freak.

Also, monoplex, scootering is inherently dangerous. To suggest a bump up in speed would result in my own death is harsh and tactless.

I don't want to appear too negative , but experience tells me if you aren't happy with the performance of your p150 you should consider a larger , faster ride . Maybe even something like a sports bike . Good luck.

I think I understand chad as I am the same way. It's not so much about being fast as it is about making something go faster.. In my opinion the people 150 platform isn't really built for tunning or "supping up" but that makes it even more fun.
