Got cicadas?

They are expecting trillions of cicadas to be born. Trillion = 1,000,000,000,000 (one million million; 10 to the 12th power)

In '09 when I first moved into this house (which I eventually bought), I had many cicadas in a large oak tree in front yard which were deafening all summer.  However, I just happened to build my kitty containment fence around that tree.  Cats can come and go from the house to the yard at will.  Over summer that year the cats (eight of them) made sport of killing cicadas.  During the rest of the year when the larval stage goes underground, the cats made sport of digging them up and killing those.  In 2010 I had only a few cicadas which were pretty much wiped out by the kitties.  I'm hoping we'll be cicada free this year.  If not, I have good pest control.

Cats rewl (as anyone who's seen my catblog might guess I would think), but here, when these bastiges come out of the ground, it is literally by the tens of millions. I was not exaggerating when I said there were roads slick with the guts of these thangs back in 1998. It's like something out of a B-grade horror flick for several weeks.
