Headlight issue
« on: May 12, 2011, 12:44:48 AM »
I got a used 2007 Agility 50 with 4200 miles on it and picked it up last week.

I assume the front headlight is supposed to be on all the time.  Mine only works if I press the high beam switch down and hold it.  The low bean and hi beam do not light on ignition.

Are rear lights supposed to be on all the time?  Mine aren't.

Trying to determine if I just need a new bulb or if it is a fuse.  If a fuse, where is it located?  Many thanks.

Hey thanks.  The scooter store owner said he put in a new bulb, but maybe he didn't.

Quick question - would it light pushing down on the light button even if it were a fuse?

OK, checked the fuses (there are 2) and they are fine.

Stupid question - how do I get to the headlight?  There is only one screw on the front panel and nothing seems to be giving way to easy.

Four black screws on the other side of the front panel, loosen from the side where your legs go on the black bit, plus the 1 big screw on the front you said before. Sounds like bulbs or regulator/rectifier or switch issue to me. You need to see if you getting enough voltage at bulb holders 1st and check the bulbs.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

Thanks.  Do you know if the tail-rear lights are supposed to be "always on" like the low beam headlight?

I got the front panel off.  There is one 35W bulb and two 7.5W bulbs on either side of the 35W bulb.  The 35W bulb filament looks OK (it comes on when I hold down the light switch).  However, one of the 7.5 bulbs is missing.  Today I'm going to run down to the scooter shop that sold me the scooter.

Still wondering if the rear lights are supposed to be always on because they are not and maybe this is another problem.

Apparently the main bulb was not seated in the socket tight enough.  After putting it back in and starting it up - it works now.

And yes, the red tail light now comes on as "always on" when the headlight is working properly.  Apparently when the front headlight bulb is not working, neither is the rear taillight.

Glad you got it sorted now.
My low beam light I not always on, neither is my rear light? I have no lights on till I turn it on at my handlebar switch? Maybe your bike is set up different, depends where you live, im from the UK. Only time my rear light is on is if I pull the brake or I turn on my lights at the handlebar switch, they so not just automatically come on when I start up my scoot.

Our Wisconsin law is that moped lights on all times so my Agility 50 is set up with headlight and tail light to come on upon ignition on.

I always ride with my sidelights on anyway so sounds like a good idea making that standard, much safer to stop SMIDSY - "Sorry Mate I Didnt See You"! Cos that can be painfull ;D
