Anybody have any tips on how to remove a severely stripped oil plug?

Try to get a hold of it with pliers or vice grips amd pull out while turning. Once you get it out, I suspect you will find the casing is stripped rather than the bolt. If that is the case, i would recommend using a recoil, helicoil or similar to restore the thread to the correct size. bonus with that is that you wont strip it again.

Eventually got it free by filing down two sides of the stripped bolt to get a flat surface to grip with the vice grips and tap it with a hammer and it actually worked! I would highly recommend that method to anyone else who has the same issue. New plug is on the way, and thanks for that tip Sid I will check out the threads tomorrow when I'm toolin around with it.
