Mixture screw on stock carb help :)
« on: July 27, 2011, 04:47:02 PM »
A mate of mine thought he'd b clever and fiddle with the mixture screw on the carb of my 08 aility. Now it runs poorly, if turned it clockwise anticlockwise and i can seem to get it back to normal. Any suggestions?

Thanks :)

P.s - is gettin a race cdi worth it?

Cheers ill do that n get back to you :)
Iv had to turn the screw on the top side of the carb that opens the throttle slowly (idle screw i think lol) so wen i turn the mixture screw bk shall i screw the idle screw all the out back to normal or will it need to be open slightly?

Race cdi?

Is the mixture screw also called the pilot screw? The manual says to adjust it around 2 turns.

yeah 2 turns out is standard, but if youve done anything to your scooter that affects the mixture (changing air filter or jets), you should perhaps turn it more in or out...

With the modifications are this: if youve changed filter to one, which lets more air come in, you should turn the screw tighter(clockwise), and if youve up-jetted, you should turn it looser(counterclockwise).

Be aware that you will rarely or never have to turn it full 3,5 or 4 times out... if you do this, and it still runs poorly, change the bigger things (jets, air filter and stuff), as the mixture screw is only for fine-tuning :)
