2007 People 50. Not starting!
« on: May 29, 2011, 08:47:34 PM »
Hello,

I bought a 2007 people 50 brand new. Ever since purchasing the moped, it had stalled at random, and sometimes I had to try to start it two or three times before it actually started.

I had moved to Florida for two years, and put about 3,000 miles on it. It sat outside in the rain, sun, etc. As always, sometimes it wouldn't start, and would die at stop lights on occasion, but wasnt too big of a deal.

Now, I live in TN and the problems have increased. It usually dies at stop lights, unless i sit and constantly rev the engine to keep it going (and then it sometimes still dies). When I try to start the moped, it either doesn't start or kick start at all, or starts, and I let it idle for a little while. It either dies while idling, or when I try to give it gas.

I have taken it to a scooter mechanic twice, and don't really have the money to go again. The mechanic changed spark plug, cleaned the carb., and cleaned the fuel engine. He also said that alot of 2007 models had a certain problem (which I cannot remember what it was exactly) but he said they fixed that as well.

Why is my moped still having problems and running just as id had before??
Thanks!

Could be anything really but i take it you checked your air filter is clean and the intake tube to draw air into the filter bob isnt kinked or anything? If your not gettig enough air you would stall. Also make sure your fuel filter is clean cos that could slow the fuel into the system.
Chaos is my co-pilot.

I also own a 2007 Kymco People 50 2T with a very similar problem.

After 15-20 minutes of street running, it runs rougher and rougher until it dies.  Then will not start until cooling somewhat.  Often difficult to start when warm and must wait up to two hours before it will finally start.  Cold starts are not such a problem.

Took it to People dealer, they cleaned plug and treated gas, but still no fix.  Cleaned filters, drained gas, cleaned plug.  Improved for a few days, now back to difficult.  Plug shows no sign of fouling and it behaves like a vapor lock, but there is not that much heat around the fuel lines.

Please advise if this is a common issue and of course, if there is a fix.
