« on: July 27, 2011, 12:45:28 AM »
hello friends,
I am about to replace my wiring harness and I am not sure of the exact year of my scooter earily 2000's I believe. I have found a wiring harness for a 2009 for sale and was thinking aobut trying to use that, but I am not sure if they are compatable it seems to be pretty similar I cant find any discrepencies. would this be a poor choice??
Thanks again for the read friends.
Brian

What have you done to require the harness replacing?
Should be the same, if not you could make any mods needed to make it fit.

I have a short some where, I was riding along and hit a bump and everything cut out, the battery has power and the fuses are still in tact. no power to anything though so it is the wiring or the ignition, i assume..  After looking over the scoot the previous owner layed it down and reworked the wiring so I wanted to replace it, just wish at my lizure. It had died a few times but I think that the scoot moving during kickstart shook the wires back on a temp untill it went for good. still not 100% but I feel that this would be the best starting point. what fo you think sid?

Have a look around the head stem, the wires can rub on the frame there, and even on each other and wear through the insulation and cause a short, easier than a complete harmess replacement, also cheaper and can be done in an hour or two.

Sorry, where the forks, handlebars go through the frame. As you turn the handlebars back ane forth through the life of the scoot, the wires can wear through if they are not routed correctly. You will need to remove the front cover to check this. I will also be worth having a look over all the wires you can see to chech for any wear.

totally feel like a nub... I waited for te harness to come befor looking around further than my original checking. the red wire came off of the ignition... and the green was on its way off. So I sodered them both back on and she is running again. I noticed that the factory did a really hack job putting them on in the first place.
