This is what I did to solve my vertically challenged problem: I used a sander to shave off some of the foam and a heat gun to soften the supporting plastic structure so I can re-shape it. I removed the sharp ridges so I do not have to spread my legs so much when I put my feet down. Since all the modification are done from the inside, when everything is put back, there is no change in the seat's appearance. The real change is felt when sitting on it. Overall I have lowered the seat two inches and it also make the seat softer!
