Only starts with full throttle but totally lacks power
« on: July 27, 2011, 08:03:16 AM »

Hi

Scooter: Kymco agility 50 (4t)
Year: 2006

Problem: When I was driving my scooter and went over a bump the scooter stopped reacting to the throttle. It just kept going on idle and then stopped. It is now very hard to start, but if I have full throttle I can start it if you hold down the start button for about 20 seconds. But when it finally start there is no power to the wheel, the engine just goes on idle. It just idle and as soon I release the throttle it stops.

The wire to the carburettor from the gas handle is ok,

I measured the resistance in the auto bypasser(choke) and it's 23 Ohm (the manual say is should be 10 Ohm). But still, it was warm when it first stopped.

I have taken the carburettor apart and clean it, no obvious problem there but haven't checked the jets. The air intake is also ok. And it gets petrol. The spark plug is ok and works. The CDI box is not original so i can't test it accordingly to the manual.

Before this is always run perfectly.

Anyone got a idea?

Thanks,
Peter

I have (potentially) similar problems, did you solve yours?

When you hit the bump it may have caused the throttle cable to become misaligned . Make sure to check the cable is fully activating the carburator linkage . Good luck .
