Can someone tell me
« on: September 16, 2011, 11:29:02 PM »
does the fork tube on the Xciting 250 attach at two points or just one like on most scooters. I was suprised that on my Agility and my Honda Reflex that they only had the bottom half of a triple tree so the attachment points were only at the bottom. I'm thinking of buying a Xciting 250 RI and was hoping it had the complete triple tree top and bottom. Maybe another reason it weights so much more than most 250s.

It has upper and lower triple clamps.

The reason it weighs more than most 250's is because it has a lot larger body and beefier wheels, passenger grab rails, huge seat, dual front disk brakes...  It is basically the Xciting 500 with a smaller engine.  The only other difference between the Xciting 250 and 500 that I know of is that the sepeedometer for the 250 reads to 100mph instead of 110...

The 250 is a very stable ride and great for in town or smaller country roads.  Up to 45mph it will run with the 500 and actually out handle it because it is lighter.  Up to 55 or 60 the 250 seemed to be running at a comfortable pace for me.  At 70mph it seemed to be topping out - but it would do it for 5 or 10 miles without a problem.  I wouldn't plan on doing 200 miles at 70mph though.

The People 250 weighs a lot less and gets better gas mileage - but doesn't have as comfortable a seat or as good of wind protection.  I was torn between a People 250 or an Xciting 500.  I think If I were going to get a 250 then I would get the People - even though it doesn't have fuel injection.  The 2009 People 250 was $3500, the 2009 Xciting 500 Ri was $5000, the 2009 Xciting 250 Ri was $4000.  Heck, I was even tempted by the 2011 Downtown 300i they had for $5100 - except they only had an orange one (just not my color of choice).  TJ's in Austin still has a 2010 Xciting 250Ri (blue) for $4300, and a 2010 People 250 S for $3700.

Yea I've seen the prices for the 250 all over the place. From 2995.00 in Va. for an 09 to over 5000 for an 2011. I'm thinking very seriously about getting one. I would never pay more than 3500 for any year I would get. I guess hey aren't making them any more. The Downtowns are nice but way to much money. Thanks for the info.

I live in NY and 4 weeks ago I bought a new 2010 xciting 250 for 3975. at Planet Honda Pa. I picked it up myself with my brother in law's pick up truck (165 mile one way trip).

After 500 miles on it , I cant say enough about it. Was originally considering upgrading exhaust, variator, ait filter, etc...but decided ..It's not necessary.
Getting 65 mpg, acceleration is ridiculously fast, not only from a stop, but also form 30 to 50 mph..Havent opened it up all the way yet, but did hit 70mph indicated with a lot left on the throttle. The handling is phenomenal.

Its an awesome machine.
