Oil light came on around 2,000 odometer
« on: January 28, 2012, 03:55:29 AM »
My oil lamp came on today just as I was pullin' up to the house for the night. Coincidentally, I have an appointment to take it in tomorrow for its 2nd service. The shop is only 5 miles away. Can I make it there without wrecking the engine, or is the oil lamp just a warning to get it changed? It just broke 2,000 miles last week.

The oil light is just a warning to change the oil. It comes on about every 600 miles, though I believe that can be re-programed. I change my oil after the light has come on twice. You'll be perfectly fine riding to the dealer for the service call.

Got it serviced. Now it runs real nice. Starts right up and idles fine now, too. I was having a wee bit of a problem with rough starts from a cold engine. Now I'm not.
