Even our "low tech" scooters are far more maintenance intensive than most cars, certain low quality or exotic cars aside.
Our scooter engines require spark plugs require renewal at the rate of ~4-8:1 of a car. I think it may be because scooters are allowed to burn far less cleanly than cars and the 'plug takes the abuse.

All plugs deliver the same power or spark. However, the better the metal, the longer the plug's life. Copper is good, but Platinum lasts longer. Iridium lasts even longer. Spark is not the issue but plug life.

Spark plugs with fine wire center electrodes operate better for two reasons. First, a smaller center electrode requires less voltage to jump the gap. This means fewer misfires, which will be seen in higher mileage and more horsepower.
