I bought a 2002 people 50 in January , on my test drive I was able to bury the speedometer at 80 kph or 50 mph , I was very impressed . Today I hooked it up to my gps . At an indicated 80 nkph I was going 43 mph . Oh well I still love it .

I'll be honest with you sir. Scooter speedometers lie, plain and simple. From Chinese to Italian I haven't seen one yet that was dead-on. Dunno why really, but they're always a bit on the optimistic side. You CAN get 50mph out of your People 50 though, I assure you. Take a little money and tuning skill, but it's possible.

Actually 43mph is really fast enough , in virginia a "moped" or under 50cc designated vehicle is not supposed to exceed 35mph . I will have to keep an eye out for the po-po as it is lol . Thanks for the responses , looking forward to spring .
