Gross speedometer error.
« on: April 19, 2012, 02:45:58 AM »
The speedometer on my 2011 People 150 reads 55 mph when my actual speed is 46 mph.  Similarly, at an indicated 65 mph my actual speed is 55 mph.  This is something with which I can live but it is a much larger error than I think should be acceptable.  To me, reading 55 mph at an actual 50 is speedometer error; an indicated 55 mph at an actual 46 mph is just plain wrong.  Should I contact the dealer? or just use a magic marker on the speedo glass?

I couldnt care less if the speedo is busted. I never use them. I keep my eyes on the road and zooom away! If somebody's honking at my back, that means I'm slow, around 30, if I overtake cars and busses, that means i'm hitting 60, if there's no honking or overtaking, that means im cruising at 50.

I think that could be considered a "dangerous " margin. Dealer for sure. Depending on your dealers mechanic be sure he doesn't bend the needle, and put his hand out. ???

My 2005 P150's speedometer is just about as bad as yours.
