Whirring noise?
« on: May 04, 2012, 04:25:08 PM »
Been away for awhile, family biz.... ugh. Anyway, Over the past few days I have noticed shes taking off a bit sluggish and just doesnt seem to have the Pep she used to have. Not to mention she wont go above 45 anymore >:( During the "shift" around 30mph I hear a slight whirring/warble noise. What would this be.... belt, rollers? As always, thanks for the great info!

...probably your belt...

..if it has set still for a while, the rubber might have glazed over, and all you need to do is ride....

..give it a 100 kms or so...

Just pull it apart bro! Check everything in the case, and the gear oil as well. Sounds like something is worn causing a harmonic vibration. Open the clutch, and all.

Gear oil? Damn I have a lot to learn. I am ordering an unrestricted drive face, new belt, new sliders. Will refresh the CVT and hope for the best. May actually go with heavier rollers/sliders to keep rpms lower. How much top end can I expect with the unrestricted drive pulley on an otherwise stock scoot? Thanks guys!

I would expect 45-50mph top if all is in good condition. 50ish is the norm for your scoot.
