Sliders Anyone?

Goldmember now has over 4K miles and I am starting to hear ping pong balls in the rollers. Has anyone tried sliders in their GT? The Downtown guys seem to like 14g. I gather we have the same set up and if I get ambitious may give them a try in a couple weeks. I have had issues in my BV 250 with sliders but Piaggio neglected to install a spacer at initial assembly. Like the little girl with curls, "When she is good she is oh so good but..."I think I may order a belt well ahead just to have one in hand. Thanks for any input!

The variator in the People is different to the one in DT, up until June 2011 or so.

We've been guessing around that 14gr in the older type of DT variator should be equal to
about 14,5 or 15gr in the People's variator.

Nothing beats trying any finding out for yourself.
I'm even toying with the idea of gettin' the People's variator for my DT and trying that with 14gr
sliders.

I'm still a bit confuzeled about why I managed to hit almost 100mph on the stock People, and my DT
(heavier, fine, but 1,5hp more) won't go over 88mph most of the times I try it. That's at 7500 revs
so I'm some 500 short from the maximum power output which should give me those extra 6-7mph that
I expected to be possible.

However, I'll just mention that I managed to do 95mph once on a demo DT300 with half-worn rollers,
but that thing was screaming at 8700 revs doing it.

I don't know why I even bother since I rarely ride at speeds over 65-70.

It's just your rollers are too heavy Cortez. .5gr-1gr. lighter will get you the extra rpm.

Yeah, I'm aware of that, I just followed TANWare's lead on choosing the slider weight.. and even
Dr Pulley folks suggest going 10% down on stock weight.

So.. that's 15,5gr - 10% = 13,95gr.

I DID get what I wanted, a lot better acceleration (no wonder since it's running at 6500 now at WOT
and before it only did 5700-6000).

I'm worried that with 13gr sliders I'd get the same top speed as I get now, but only at higher revs, and
that would be a rather stoopid move.

I'll probably try to mix 14 and 13 next time.

I "THINK" Dr. pulley recomends such a drastic weight change is to make their product appear to do more than it really does. IMHO they are great at giving better take off but that is really all. The revving issue I believe is just for novices. Experienced users know the difference.

i replaced my stock rollers ( 15.3 grams ) for 15 gram sliders .
sliders are great for take-off about the same for top speed .
easy to change about 20 mins. i'm happy with the change .

If you had a tachometer, you'd notice a big drop in revs after about 65mph, it'll
do wonders for your MPG figures if you ride out on open roads above 60 a lot.

What's your top speed anyways?
