Surface gap spark plug preferred for sustained high speeds. The spark is suppose to glide over the tip to provide a "spark" without the electrode sticking out. Said to give better performance compared with the conventional electrode. You must have the right heat range though and have the right clearance with the top of the piston.

I have two champion, and two Ngk's are on the way. They list for 22.00 but I found them for factory pricing @ 3/4 bucks I'll try one of the champions on a Hi Per. coil (30,000v orange), and let you know how it works but I have a 60,000v system in store for them. That's what they are made to run.
