Actually that capacitor was $251 :-(

I looked it up on the Inter-web and it's a dual fan and compresser 370 volt GE capacitor.

Some were saying up to $300 for this kind of cap.

I wish i had your worries boys, its been humid here in Scotland on and off for weeks now till we had a good thunderstorm to clear the air. Now its just damp, wet and miserable, typical summer here. If were lucky we may get another couple of weeks of good sun July/Aug/Sept but its not guarenteed.

Im like a lizard, cold blooded, i need the sun. Looking to go on holiday in the next few weeks to catch some rays before i end up going full metal honky. I need some colour about me, im begining to look ill  :'(

Hot and humid in RI too though we didn't quite make a 100 -only 98 with a heat index of 109, thanks to 89% humidity.  I actually like the heat - grew up in it, but the humidity can be nasty.  Still, I ordered a mesh jacket - not due to arrive until tomorrow - would have liked to have it this last weekend - the leather is too hot, even with the vents open.

By the way, I haven't had an air conditioner in my home for 5 years and don't really miss it.  Of course I don't have any guests all summer either :)

Yeah here in Shrewsbury England it was hot for a week in March this year. We all thought yipee! this is it bring it on but its rained since. Took the day off work today and it rained all day and its still raining now.
Still I look on the brightside it beats the snow.

On a ps... These work great for buffers on very high end studio/pa amplifiers. When I was in the recording business I had a box full of caps that the amps drew off of. No clipping/no distortion. The idea is the cap stores energy that the motor of the ac draws on before pulling from the wall voltage. this allows the compressor to start without dimming the lights in the whole house. Same idea for am amp. Peak voltage is stored so large loads on the current will not drop the operating voltage. Sorry... cheap part

Ah yes! the capacitor.  I have several suppliers for sound system capacitors. You supply the specs and they will tell you how much. The specs are usually different from what the label says ....   ;D ;D ;D So, in choosing one, get a well known brand.  I can print 1.5 MFD on a 1 MFD capacitor to have an edge in marketing and no one can know the difference.  ;)
