When passing a truck don't delay or linger.

When passing a truck make a decisive move and get past him, lingering around will only get you killed.

Damn!

I sure hope that guy got the hell out of there

The truck must have had most of its load on the right side of the trailer. I used to load trucks, you have to try to load the weight evenly. Either that or it was really windy and the trailer was empty.

Damn -- wouldn't wish that on anyone, but it doesn't look like he lingered when passing. Maybe the lesson here is to avoid passing something like that on a turn where you can't see far enough ahead, causing you to move slower than usual.

Once I was almost run over by a huge tow truck -- the kind used to tow 18 wheelers. I had pulled ahead of him on a 50 cc scooter when we were next to one another at a stop light, then our two lanes merged into one. I could see he wasn't happy being stuck behind a scooter in my mirrors, so I gunned ahead and pulled around a tight curve. There was another red light, and something told me to pull over to the side. Good thing I did -- the truck driver barreled around the curve and completely ran through the red light like it wasn't there. Had I'd been in the lane he would have run me over.

Hate riding behind or between trucks, buses or SUVs.

Yeah, trucks are nasty.  I was going through some "S" curves today at about 60mph with a truck next to me.  Between the shift of the wind around the curve and the suction created by the truck, I started being pulled into the truck.  Nothing to do but lean down further and hit the throttle - one of those examples of knowing when it is better to accelerate - if I had slowed down, it would have made the situation worse.  Still no fun having that sinking feeling in your stomach for a second.
