Drive belt and clutch life time
« on: June 17, 2012, 03:25:03 PM »
What lifetime can one expect of the drive belt and clutch on People 50 2T -04?
I can hear a short (less than a second) high pitched noise just after taking off. Could this signs of wear of clutch or drivebelt?
The clock reads 10600 km (6600 miles) today and both clutch and belt are original eq.

Clutch should last much longer than the belt. I have almost 13,000 Kilometers on the factory belt and clutch. My belt needs to be replaced badly though.

The clutch does sometimes get residue build up and acts a little funny. Mine started acting funny (shuddering on takeoff) with less than 1000 k and I've read about people having the same issues. Every time I have the clutch out I hit the friction material briefly with 220 sandpaper and clean the bell out good with brake cleaner. Never have any issues anymore.

Clean the clutch, and replace the belt/rollers. 10km is a fair life span. I replace my parts once a year as a general rule for OEM scooters.

Yep, I second that.. Everytime keeps any glaze of the pads. I do the bell too....

Probably would not hurt to clean, grease the TD with that many kms.......I mean, since it's gonna be apart anyway  ;D
