Givi Windshield
« on: May 13, 2009, 04:27:37 PM »
Does anyone know for sure if the Givi windshield for the Xciting will fit the 2009 500Ri model without major mods? I have been looking at it and the Laminar Lip as an alternative. Leo at Laminar is unsure whether the lip will fit the 2009 properly and suggested that I buy it and return it if it doesn't fit. I'm not sure I want to fork out the shipping cost both ways just to find out so I'm looking at the windshield now. The windshield mounting appears to be the same as previous models so I may go that route. I know you guys had to mod yours slightly to fit and that wouldn't be a problem for me.

I have an 09 X500 Ri and the tall Givi works fine.  On these later models the mirrors will bump the windshield when turned to extreme, not something you do in normal riding, but sometimes they bump when parking or turning around in tight spaces.  Extenders would help the problem by getting mirror body out a bit further.  But as far as wind, bug and rain protection it's a champ.  It's also tall and most people will be looking through it.  Not an issue if you are used to that as I was from my other bike.  It has enough slope that the rain will blow off when riding in the rain at speeds above 30 or 35 MPH.  A good coat of wax makes it even better.  I use the regular Honda spray wax and cleaner but any of the other brands made for plastic windshields will work fine.
