Will Kymco Import the 400i Into the US Market?
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:13:29 PM »
I've been drooling over pictures of the 2012 400i taken at shows abroad. My dealer has not heard anything about their availability in the US.  Does anyone have any information about this bike?

I wouldn't hold my breath, youz guyz don't even get the EVO version of the now old
Xciting that's been sold for years here.

300cc too!

As far as I know, every single version of the Xciting that ever existed is still available
to any importer, Kymco is funny that way.

So you can basically get a 250cc with FI or without FI, 300 with FI, new and old
design, 500 with and without FI, new version only with FI, and optional ABS on the
FI 500.

And then there's the 300Ri and 500Ri..

...and the new 400..
And you can..
 ;D

My Downtown 300 is working great, the 400 is the evolution of that same engine,
so it's gonna be the best Xciting yet, they better sell it everywhere.

It's gonna be faster (acceleration) and more fuel efficient then the current 500.

Don't know about the US but Kymco Canada has said no to the 400, but they did say 2013 we will have the newer 500 EVO like Europe, which is pretty close in looks to the 400. At least in the front end. I think the rear is pretty much the same as the old 500.
Can't wait to see one, might just be my next scoot... Currently headed for a 2013 toss up between the Burger 400, Xciting 500 or poss the MyRoad if it does show up...

It would be nice if the 400 had the same power as the old X500 with better MPG. That's something I could really get behind as I don't think I would ever have the $10,000 dollars that the 700 will probably cost? It would be nice if it could come in at around $7,500-$7,999. Then they may sell some? They need to promote the 700 as a touring capable bike to the baby boomer market, I think they would like it do to it's ease of handling, weight and so on. The baby boomers are buying trikes in droves because as they age the leg strength and balance starts to go. The 700 may be a good alternative. :-*

The new 400cc engine is based on the G5 300cc from the Downtown and People and info I got says
it'll have about the same MPG figures as the 300cc engine, only slightly worse at WOT.
(I spoke with someone in Taiwan who rode it for a week or so.)

Considering it's a lot lighter then the current euro EVO 500, and only 5hp down on power
(it's rated at 35hp), it should be just as fast as the 500, maybe have just a slightly lower
top speed (irrelevant to most).

What it will have is a more accurate speedo like the DT/People.
The current Xciting 300 will hit 90mph indicated and the 500 almost 105mph and the
real top speeds are A LOT under those figures.
