« on: July 26, 2013, 06:43:01 PM »
Hello everyone.  This morning I got my scoot out getting ready to go to work and it fell over in my driveway.  My givi windshield exploded and a nice scratch on my perfect paint. I put the stock windshield on and wow, do not like it. What a difference. ... justa wanted to let you all kmow what happened.....sad day for me. I feel like baby got hurt :'(

Bummer. I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago, I'd only had the bike for a few months. Didn't break the windshield but did break the left mirror and scuffed her up.

On the bright side, you weren't riding when she fell over... the second time mine fell over, I was! Broke the left mirror again, and the left brake lever assembly, and scraped her up (and myself) pretty good.

My windshield is not a Givi, apparently it's a Kymco "genuine part" which my dealer replaced the stock windshield with, quite tall but plastic and didn't explode on either occasion.

Ah well, parts can be replaced, we can't - so let's all ride safely!

Sad indeed, but at least it wasn't what happened to me. Some asshat knocked mine over in a parking lot. I wouldn't have got so pissed off if I'd actually dumped it myself, but having somebody else do it and then quietly vanish leaving my ride on its side kept me in a fine old rage for days.

Bummer.  Mine has fallen over twice in my driveway.  I live in an old house with old asphalt driveway and the center stand has sunk in the driveway under heavy rain and fallen over.  Both times scuffs and leaking gas with me pissed.  I pick her up and take her to the shop to get a new brake lever one right and one on the left.  The first time i replaced a bunch of the plastics.  A couple of days later it fell over again.  She will stay a little scuffed up.

I wish I could ride more and drive less!

Yeah, if I spent the $$ to return mine to pristine I feel like I might be jinxing myself and would end up dropping it soon thereafter. I'm thinking, though, that the scuffed bits might be ideal locations for some hyper-reflective striping ;)

Dumped my twice as well.  First time, just fell over coming down a hill with a load on the back.  No big deal.  Second time on a private road that went to dirt and hit a bump... front end popped up, came down on dirt road and the back slid on it's side about 15 feet.  Was only going about 10 miles an hour.  Mine is still scuffed on the left side and it is staying that way.  As much as I like a trophy machine, this thing is a workhorse and will have a lot of miles on it before I get rid of it.

Sorry to hear about your screen . I recently stood my a50 on its stand only for two seconds later an amazing gust of wind out of nowhere blew it over. My scoot was undamaged because the handle bar end fell against my mothers cars front wing and dented it right in. Even though I tried to pop the dent out from the other side its still really obvious it has been hit. Might be a big bunch of flowers this mothers day!

My bike is always on the center stand, and only the kick stand long enough for me to either mount or dismount but never stay on it, always stays on the center stand. Learned my lesson years ago with my old 750 Yamaha.
