Blown fuse need help
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:56:35 PM »
I rode my Kymco People 150 to work the other day and it ran fine. I parked it and when I went to ride home,  I pressed the starter button, nothing happened. I got a buddy to give me a jump and still nothing. When I checked the fuses, the 7.5 amp fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse and when I tried to start the bike, it blew again. I could not get it to kick start so I had it towed to the house. What would be the likely culprit to blow this fuse? What does this fuse circuit control?

Please read the extensive posts between kymcoco and me about this very same problem. Call me in the morning when you get done what I recommended to him!

I have it narrowed down to the rear brake light. I replaced the fuse, applied the brake to start the scooter, and the fuse blew. I then replaced the fuse again and turned on the blinkers and both worked. When I applied the brake, it blew again. According to the schematic the 7.5 fuse mainly controls the brake and turn lights and the front display.  I probably did something when I replaced the body plastic after repairing my spark plug threads! Will update when I have a chance to chase it down. Thanks for the response Karl. Have a great Easter.

Problem solved! Sure enough, when I pulled the body panel off to repair my spark plug threads, I did not secure my led brake light wire harness securely enough and the wires got cut by the tire and shorted somewhere on the body. All is good now. Seems like every time I work on the scooter there is a chance of me goofing something else up. I am still learning and I guess that is a good thing.

Glad you finally figured it out. I was intrigued because my P150 never experienced this problem. Good job troubleshooting it!
