Bet and Win 250 Won't Start
« on: August 19, 2012, 08:35:29 PM »
??? I wanted to change the oil in my scooter, but for the first time in 2 years, it won't start. I can crank it for 5-10 seconds, but it won't turn over. If I give the throttle a slight twist, it might start for a second or two, then die. Any ideas of what the problem might be? The previous night I rode it for 2 hours with no problem.

Will it die even if you keep twisting the throttle once it starts up?

I guess so, it dies before I have a chance to twist the throttle, because it only runs a split second.

Could be loads of things really  ???

Basic things would be dirty/blocked fuel filter, blocked fuel lines, dirt in the carb or jets, leaking inlet manifold or even lack of air due to blocked air hose or real dirty air filter.

As it turns out, it was most likely a bad sparkplug. I changed it and the scooter started right up, with no further problems so far. However, getting to the sparkplug was a major hassle, since I had to take apart half the scooter, but I think people should learn to perform this procedure since I probably saved at least $100 by doing it myself.

Good news. Saved money and learned some skills for next time. Nice job  ;)
