variator wear
« on: September 16, 2012, 08:49:23 PM »
desided to change my belt at 24,000 KM. looking at the variators and found wear point about 3/8 in from the edge just were the belt is most of the time , checking the belt with the coveroff , at high RPM the belt would not go to the edge untill I went to 8,000 RPM.  so I have ordered new VAR. kit from yamaha kymco supply, I hope to be able to cruse at 5500 RPM  at 60 MPH. now I cruze at 6500 RPM. and it will rev to 8500 RPM. WOT. so easy, tops out at 140 KM. I do not go far at speed as i do this on the queensway in ottawa average speed of cars is 120 KM. so I blend in with the traffic,.

I had 5500 revs at 60mph with 14gr Dr Pulley sliders in the stock CVT (6500 WOT),
6000 with stock 15.5gr weights (5500 WOT).
