duesouth, instead of adding another self-eveling cupholder thread I thought I'd post mine in here with yours so all the different attachment methods are in one place. So here's how I did mine:
After reading in another thread about our large food portions I realized that I wasn't being very patriotic without having a method to mount my gigantic morning beverage.
I liked Beatlenut's cupholder location but it didn't work well for the beverage of my morning ritual, a large sweet tea, as it was just a little too close to the bodywork. So I used the "marine" mount of the holder with a round flat base and did a little modification. Here is the mount showing the round base, RAM part number "RAM-B-132U":
Here is my modification to the base done:
How it fits into opening where the "hook" was located (it matched two of the existing holes in plastic body panel and I had to drill two more):
Picked up some stainless steel mounting hardware and did a little blackout work with a permanent marker:
Trimmed of the square raised thingy on the back of the body panel (first broke off main part with a pliers and then trimmed smooth with razor blade):
And the final result:
So far it's working well - I haven't torn the body panel off the scooter yet..
