Bought My Second Yager
« on: September 16, 2012, 07:54:09 PM »
About a year ago I bought a new Yager (having bought a Super 8 150 the year before). I have over 5000 miles on both bikes. After I got my 150 my best friend got the bug and bought a piaggio 400 (his wife wanted him on 3 wheels). He and I were taking over 200 mile day trips around Florida so I needed a bigger ride.
My son visits with me once a year for a week and The 3 of us rode all over. What a week. I thought about getting a 300 but enjoy the Yager so much that I panicked when I read they were going to be discontinued.
This is the best value out there if you use secondary roads only and enjoy riding between 50 and 60 as I do.
My friend and I have rode from Orlando Fl. Around Lake Okeechobee and home. 385 miles for me that day.
Next month we will ride to the north keys one day and to Key West and back to our campsite the next day and then return home the 3rd day.
All secondary roads on a Yager. Why am I sharing this? My first Yager cost me 2995 plus tax and title. No discounts on my second one even tho this was my 3rd bike from same dealer. That is how much I think of this bike.
When my son visits me for a week this winter we will be riding equal rides so the 150 will not be slowing us down and with two yagers I will have, God willing, many economical and pleasant rides. When the first one dies it will be the parts bike for the second.
If you are on the fence you have little time to get one. Two weeks ago our dealers had access to 17 and I think they are all gone.
I do all my own work so enjoy the simplicity of this bike. Hope this is helpful.
I wasn't born in Florida but I got here as soon as I could.

Get one if you can.
It's an amazing little bike that does everything well.

After that, the only alternative will be the SYM RV200 that should be available very soon.
Very similar to the Yager in shape and size with the engine of the HD200.
Not sure it will be injected though.

Loving my Yager..... after having much more powerful scooters.
I think that says it all!

I too am loving my Yager 200 1 1/2 years of ownership.  I did NOT want a large scooter, so the mid size and POWER of the Yager are perfect for me.  I still haven't done a tour on the Yager, but I really think I should set one up soon.

Mine also cost $2,999.00 new and what a deal!  Right now I'm using it mostly around town and running 80-92 mpg which is pretty amazing.  Have about 4,000 miles on it.  No problems so far.

i'm amazed at that gas mileage. "Yager200I", who's reporting regularly in this section, reports his Yager as getting in the 60's after well over 3000 miles on the clock. mine is right at 1000 miles and the best i've gotten is the upper 50's.

Upper 50's... it doesn't sound right.

I calculate my mileage on every tank and only fill until the pump auto shut off.  The very high mileage figures are from mostly around town riding and are legit due to my record keeping.  It's been a difficult summer for me to get out of town.

Also, I'm a conservative rider, but do love to open 'er up on occassion.  On the gas gauge I get about 40 miles on each segment.  The last segment starts blinking around 170-180 miles.

Previously, I've gotten mileage readings as low as 68-70mpg but this was with added highway miles 50-70 miles per hour.  Still, I'm amazed at the mileage I'm getting.  Something must be wrong if you're only getting in the 50s.

At 1000 miles, your engine is still tight, so gas mileage in the 50s is to be expected. If you look at my Fuelly.com profile, you'll see that I started out in the 50s, got up to very near 70, but it's dropped off recently to the 60s. Could be the seasonal change in gasoline mixture, could be something going wrong with the scooter, could be that I'm unintentionally riding it more aggressively... not sure.

There are a lot of things that affect gas mileage. I regularly pump the tires on my car up
to 40 PSI to gain 10% on the fuel economy. A small gas tank can make it hard to tell if
your filling the same each time. Ethanol can kill it big time.

I also find some people drive differently. On my Honda FIT there is a gauge that keeps
a running average. I get 38-40, The wife gets 35-36 and my dad borrowed it once and
got 26 MPG's.

If I drive in the city it goes down considerable (20-25). I live in a rural area and that helps a lot.
Some find better gas mileage on the highway but I never have.

Each vehicle will have different tolerances too so if you get a good one you will get better
and if you get a bad one...

I imagine break in makes a difference too. I also find that real lean vehicles will vary a lot.
My Vulcan 1500 varied from 30 to 50 MPG's in stock form. Once I put a jet kit in it it returned
37-38 MPG's all the time.

While researching the Yager I found quoted mileage and speed figures all over the board. I wasn't
sure what to expect. I'm hoping for 70-75 MPH and 75 MPG. (Fuelly shows 60 - 80 as the norm)

I pick it up today! Glad I found out about this unique scoot before they are sold out!

PS You might try different fuel. Some cars like one kind more than another. And maybe
some Startron, the alcohol in the gas can fill with water and kill your mileage.

I ride my yager 70 miles round trip to work  one or two days a week and have averaged around 82-84 miles a gallon. My friend and I took a 780 mile (round trip) 3 day trip to Key West and at 160lbs plus about 50lbs camping gear and cruising around a constant 7000 rpm, that dropped to 71 mpg.
The milage was around 6100 when I got home so the bike is broke in.
The Keys run is a great ride:-)

Update: Ran through one tank of gas and I'm around 80 MPG (break in miles too!).
I did put a splash of Startron in the tank as the book says no ethanol but I'd have to
drive 50 miles to get pure gas at a marina. That might help the mileage as it did in
 my car.
