Every 2000km per manual.
There's very little oil in there and no filter so..
Oopps, I think my bike is overdue for an oil change lol. So are you saying if I've already done 18,000kms, then that's about 9 oil changes, correct? I normally take it in for a service at every 4500kms. So my guess is, my scooter has only done 3 oil changes all up, and due for the next one. I bought me some oil and decided to try and change it myself. I've done it once in the past but wasn't perfect and overflowed the oil and left it lol. So hopefully practice makes perfect :D

Yeah, you should do it a bit more often.

I went for crap oil, cheap mineral 15W40 is fine for this type of engine, especially
if you change it often.

I usually did it at 2500..
At 4500 I'd probably need to add some.

Thanks Cortez! I see now. So did you add oil to the old one after 4500kms? I think I know why the engine from my old scooter blew up lol. It didn't have any oil because I left it for a long time.

I didn't add any oil because I never went that long between changes.

The point is, at 4500, there's probably some missing, and the difference between minimum and maximum is 0.1l, or half
your average glass of water so that can be a bit dangerous.

The oil in this engine (again, because of lack of filtering and low capacity) gets very dirty even at the 2000km mark.

If you won't change oil as often as you should, at least check it every 1000km and add some if there's any missing.

You should change it AT LEAST every 3000km.
It's easy to do and doesn't cost more then $10 with top quality oil.

Nah your absolutely right my friend. I've experienced this with my old scoot.

I changed the oil today and proud to say I did it. Lucky I read all the comments made earlier and followed it but then I stumbled across this youtube clip: a more visual tutorial. That helped a lot. I went and bought a new 17mm wrench/box(something) and unscrewed the oil bolt/cap. Dammit, I should of thought it through first before getting excited because of that a lot of old oil and the new oil was on the concrete(was acting too cool like a mechanic in front of my neighbors) lol. So next time I'll do it on the lawn and put some paper beneath the oil cap ;). My first round I actually put too much oil in so I emptied it out again and poured in the right amount :)

All you had to do was loosen the drain bolt a little and let some drain off then tighten it back up again, was no need to drain it all back out  ???
