New Forum Member But an Old Yager Owner

     I've owned my Yager for a little over two years but I just discovered the forum.  From the start, I confess to loving my Vespa GTS a bit more but I like the Yager.  I bought the Yager as a step up from the Yamaha Vino 125 I started with and have been fairly satisfied with it after a little over 4000 miles. 
     Had I known that I could buy a slightly used Vespa GTS for not much more than a new Yager, I wouldn't have bought it.  My wife always wanted a Vespa and I found a beautiful one with very low mileage not long after buying the Yager.  I loved it so much, I found my own last year.
     I have had only one problem with the Kymco and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem.  After I had put a little less than 1000 miles on the bike, I developed a ringing sound when starting from a stop particularly on hard acceleration.  No impact on performance whatsoever.  The dealer replaced the transmission housing but the problem persisted.  Last fall, they replaced more stuff (pulleys, drive belt) everything under warranty.  Much less ringing but it's still noticeable.  As the warranty was just about to expire, I had resigned myself to living with it when all of a sudden I died on the road.  I thought it was a broken belt, but after towing it to the dealer, they discovered the pulley nut had come loose.  I can only guess that it hadn't been torqued correctly although it was about a 1000 miles after the last repair when it failed.  It was repaired at no cost but I still don't know why it rings.
     Has anyone else experienced the ringing sound?
     One last question: has anyone who is tall replaced or modified the seat to get extra room?  I like the foot rests on the leg shield and find it makes it easier to ride comfortably.  But if the Yager were my only ride, I would have explored the possibility already.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forum! You have questions and these guys have answers. I am one of the old guys here; meaning I am an old guy with a Yager that has been on the forum a short time! Mine does not have what I would classify as a "ring" but more of a "rattle" on acceleration. My Agility 50 had it, too. I think this is a characteristic of the Kymco CVT since my wife's Buddy 150 does NOT have this sound. I have over 7000 miles on my Yager and the thing has not fallen apart....yet!

I've ridden it several hundred miles since they made the repair and haven't had any problems.  I only ride it weekends as I keep it upstate.  It still "rings' but not all the time.  There may be a connection with temperature.  The ringing seems to be more likely to appear when the scooter has been run for a long time at higher revs.  Last weekend, it was coool and didn't ring at all.  I've decided to just ignore it.  The scooter otherwise runs perfectly and is getting a consistent 80 mpg in country riding.  It's really an excellent machine for the type of riding I do up there.  Mostly 35-45 on back roads but it will hold 50 on an uphill climb and maintains 60 mph or better on the flats.  I have no indoor storage up there so I will be bringing it back to NYC to garage for the winter.  I have kept it hooked to a Battery Tender the last two winters and take it out when weather permits.

It took me two years before I noticed that it has a "flash to pass" highbeam feature.  I really do like the great under seat storage space, the audible turn signal indicators, and the spot on accurate speedometer.  The oil light going on every six hundred miles is still a mystery to me but is a good reminder to lazy folks like me to check the oil level and tire pressure.  I really do like the Yager but in all candor, I love my Vespa GTS more.

I heard a ringing on my new Yager but only when hitting bumps at speed.

I think it is this metal plate in the pulley cover, it is only held with 3 screws
and rings if you tap it.

My Yager 'rings' when accelerating rapidly from a stand still.

My People150 doesn't do it and never has.

I'm not really worried about it.

I have the same issue. My CVT rings, but only in the morning when it's cold. If it's warm in the afternoon, there's no ringing.

I also experienced high RPM to engage the clutch (5000 RPM before it'd start engaging), so I 'de-glazed' the clutch (held the rear brake, revved it up to maximum throttle, held it for 15 seconds, throttled down and let it cool down for 15 minutes, then repeated). After doing that, the clutch starts grabbing at about 3500 RPM, and is fully engaged at about 4000 RPM. And when it grabs, it *really* grabs, if I'm slowing down for a red light (almost at a stop, but still rolling about 5 MPH, clutch disengaged), and the light changes, and I throttle back up, it'll almost lift the front wheel off the ground if I goose it too much.

I'm hoping to install an aftermarket clutch when I hit around 6000 miles, if I can find one that'll fit the Yager. Anyone know of a good one that'll work with this scooter? I want to set it up so it starts engaging at about 3000 RPM, and is fully engaged at around 3750 or so... it'll help with the low-speed riding I sometimes have to do in heavy traffic (really heavy traffic, too packed to even thread the needle).
