getting to the power source (12 v) battery. Wife bought me a waterproof speaker system with an amp that I simply plug my mp3 player into. Amp has to be wired into the battery for power.. Big question.... Rather than run it all the way to the battery can I tap in closer?: There is a glove box with a wiring harness in it just below ignition with black and red wires I guess for ignition, lights, horn etc? Also a black tab below marked VIN that has wires. Any helpful hints on how to tap into the negative and positive wires in these places rather than the stress and mess of a home run to the battery???? As always, thanks gang for your guidance!!!! ! Philip

The all red wire should be positive, there should be a red/white wire also..thats your ignition wire that runs up to the battery i think but im absolutly positive about the red/white but it should be igntion..(it is on most 50cc's not sure of the 150's)if you wire it thru there when you turn the key on it will power the radio..if to the battery you will always have power connection

i would actually take the extra time and using zip strips to mount the wires along your framing and go directly to the battery with an in-line fuse first. Im not sure how much the wiring of your scooter can withstand as far as heat so just in case i wouldnt go splicing. either way you do it make sure you use an inline fuse. you can use any metal that touches the frame for the ground as long as its a clean connection.

solid green is ground,redw/ white is ignition. I would use a BOSCH 30 amp relay tied to the red w/ white after the key. this way your amp will shut off w/ the key. you will still need to run a 12v hot to the battery for the relay to give stable power  for the amp..  as the prev. post states use an inline fuse appropiate to the amp. the reason for all this is the key switch is made to run a specific amount of current w/ VERY LITTLE margin for error (extra power) the switch costs approx.7x what the relay costs ($11.00 for the relay) as long as you are running wire a black to the batt. will only help.
