Fenders
« on: November 09, 2012, 02:43:04 PM »
  So the fenders on the Yager leave a lot to be desired. The front allows road gunk (a technical term)
to mess the lower cowl;

I found this SYM 300 EVO front fender that might cover the wheel a bit better;

Here's the rear fender. Dirt gets up under the rear tray as it's not sealed around it. The big outer fender
doesn't do much (maybe keep dirt off the seat). I'd like to remove the big outer one and extend the small
one near the tire. I need a 12" fender on a 10" radius with a width of 6". You'd think some sort of chinese
scooter fender would be available for cheap somewhere....

Randy,

I've noticed the same thing . . .  and good find on that other scooter fender !

Are you going to try it - if you do please let us know.

If it's a fit then I'll definitely do it too.

On a similar topic - the People GT 200i

Poor fender as well, and the radiator is directly behind the front tire too.

Personally, I prefer the radiator higher, safer.
But where it is, I would really like a better fender.

What do you guys think ?

Ya that has the high fender but is made like the Sym.

I can't locate an online vender that carries the new Sym stuff.

I modified my old BMW bike with a fender from EBAY, it was
tiny and short in the back too. Here's a picture;

(It's the photo with the girl.)

Here's a better shot of the People front fender and radiator.

In your experience, is this radiator location a cause for concern ?

I have seen other bikes with the radiator is this location.

Well it's not a great location. My BMW had the radiator up higher but right behind the
front wheel. I added some 1/4" chicken wire fencing in front of it to protect it from stones;

That bike's cooling was marginal, adding fork protectors would make it overheat.

Keep it clean and it should be OK. The add on fender might block it but I have a sneaking
suspicion the radiator is not really doing much on these bikes as they were adapted from
an air cooled design. It stabilizes the extra heat from the added cc's during hot weather
mostly.

Here's a couple of pictures from another site on how to fix the rear fender;

First using a piece of the big outside fender that was removed;

Then using a big chunk of rubber (I didn't think this would work so good!);

The Sym Citycom 300i has a high front fender like the GT but they put
a secondary back fender on it like this;

I'd probably add that to the Kymco, it just seems like a good idea!
