Squealing Front tire? Need advice - help. Thx!

I noticed my front tire seems to make a squealing sound.  So I put the scoot on the stand and spun the front wheel.  I think it's the front breaks sticking.  When I spin the wheel, it doesn't spin freely.  It spins a little bit then comes to an abrupt halt.  Any suggestions on how I can repair?  Could it be something else? Bearings - if there are any in the front wheel?  The squealing sound is not continuous but repetitive as one would expect in a wheel.  Sometimes the sound is more prominent when I apply the front breaks but hear the sound even if I am not applying the breaks.

strip caliper down and look at pistons etc see if they move back and forth freeley. then copper grease. i suspect one piston is not as free as the other one.

also check the disk is not warped.

No copper grease or other grease on brake pistons please !

If you really want to lubricate brake pistons (which shouldn't be necessary in most cases), you should use silicone based stuff, or better, a special brake lubricant, since these won't damage the seals like most greases and solvents will.

sorry should have been more clear. only copper grease on back of pads and on slider pins. not on piston.
on the piston in the past i have used lithioum grease in past. but only a tiny amount.

Often it's enough to just remove the brake pads, pump the brake carefully to extend the pistons a bit (not too far, or they will fall out and drain the system all over the place  ) and just clean everything with a dry cloth and a toothbrush (no solvents)...

Yeah, like they said, sticking brakes, either due to dirt and crap in gunking up the movement or corrossion. If the pins are rusted you can sand them clean and grease them with copper grease. Should be fine after a good clean up and grease.

Or.........the pads are worn down to the steel and need replaced?
