test tomorow
« on: January 09, 2013, 05:39:57 PM »
greetings scoots young and old.  ole partyhut here. I'm 72 yrs young, live in Soddy Daisy, Tn. ( that's worse than partyhut)
I'm retired from Fuji films, the graphic arts side  Field engineer for computer to plate equipment.  Now I work part time as a photo tech in our local walmart.  Having said all this  (sort of to explain me) I'll get to the point.  Over the last four years I have had five surgeries for bladder cancer. Been clean for the last two three month tests.  Went six months this time ( Dr's suggestion) go tomorow morning for testing.  If all is well, no test for a year, if not, surgery within a few days.  appreciate greatly any thoughts and prayers.

either way I will be scooting again when weather permits

Thoughts and prayers to ya hut!  Please keeps all your scooter friends updated on your situation!

Partyhut,
One of my closest friends and horse riding buddy is an internal medicine doc who is a bladder cancer survivor for the last 16 years. He had an internal bladder reconstructed with a portion of bowel rather than having the urostomy with a bag on his side. He still has to catherize himself on a regular basis but I have watched this man maintain a full Medical practice, ride his gaited TWHorses at the Field Trials in Bullock County Al, get his single engine pilot's license, and ride his Harleys. I share this with you to let you know that with regular cytology and follow up you can enjoy the greatest quality of life possible. Take good care of yourself and my prayers are with you, keep your stress to a minimum and "Play like a dog!"

Hey Partyhut, wow that's a weird name.  But even with that name, welcome to the forum.  I beat you on age, 74.  In the last 3 years, I've had my uretor (I know you are familiar with it) unsuccessfully blasted, then resected (some cut off) and 3 bladder surgeries all for cancer I thought but the second time it was just a piece of my prostate floating so no cancer that time but the same surgery.  I don't mind the surgeries, after all, I slept thru them.  However, I'm sure you'll agree that the recoveries are a bitch.  In March I'll have the first post op 3 month exam which as you know is another bitch.  Amazing how they can stick something so big into such a small hole.  But I rode yesterday for about an hour even thou it is too cold.  I'll keep riding and hope for a clear exam for you and me and all the others.  I guess there are a lot of people out there who go through it but keep on riding.  Good luck.

Yeah good luck PH. Sounds like you got that cancer beat mentally so hopefully your body has kicked its ass physically. At 72 youre just a kid around here, this place is like an old folks home for the old folk who refuse to get old.  :D

thanks to all of you for your kind replies.  Turns out I have no news.  woke up Thursday morn sick, I mean really sick.  Went to the doc anyway.  Tested positive for the flu.  They slapped a mask on me, wrote some meds and rescheduled my bladder test for the 23rd.
I think it may have come about from riding during a snow storm in a wet swim suit. ( I'm sure it could have been snowing somewhere)
At any rate test postponed  now I have more time to look forward to that fun test.
I must say that I really admire the fortitude, determination and courage of the men mentioned in several of the responses.
will keep the forum up to date.  I think i will lie me down to rest and let my immune system whip up on this flu...
