I replaced the clock battery today. [The clock is not powered by the main battery.]
It was an "LR43" battery - you can probably buy it at the drug store, etc.
I removed:
- the bolts holding the USA turn signal lights. (Just let the lights dangle.)
- two small black screws (left / right) from the lower rear side of the instrument cluster.
- Gold colored headlight adjustment screw (front side - under light)
- Small black bolt (front center - lower under side)
Then the bottom seam of the front/back cover came a part quite easily.
But the top seam was harder and I was afraid to break it.
There are three tabs (left, right and center) that hold the top together a little firmer.
I borrowed a telfon pan scraper from my kitchen sink - it was perfect to separate the top seam without marring the plastic.
Remove the front half of the cover. (Just let it dangle.)
Once you can see the bottom of the white instrument cluster, you'll see a rectangular depression under the clock area.
There is a small tab on one side of the clock cover. Push the tab to the side to release the cover.
Then, using a small grab/tab molded into the cover, pull the cover out.
There is a black piece of foam between the cover and the clock module.
This foam and the clock module may or may not fall out when you remove the cover.
Be careful - mine fell down into the lower covers and it was a royal pain to retrieve it ! ! !
Once you've removed the clock module . . .
The clock module has a small circular cover - rotate it counter clockwise to remove the battery.
Do all this backwards to reassemble.
