Hi guys,

I'm working on modding a 2013 Kymco Super 8 2T. The changes I've done to it require me to derestrict it as well, in order for it to run correctly. I understand that on previous years models you are supposed to cut one of the two pink wires coming out, in the third row from the left. The thing about the 2013 CDI, is that the third row does not contain any wires. Does anyone know how you go about derestricting this CDI in particular, without me having to wait another 3 weeks before a race CDI would come in? I really need this mod for my daily commute.

Thanks!!

Yes, call... Maybe the factory did away with the limiter in the CDI, people cut them anyway.... this way Kymco can save some manufacturing costs.

Another thing is that the older models of super 8 50cc are 4t that may have the 8 wires. Kymco introduced the 50cc 2t in 2011 and discontinued the 4t. The 2t may have the 6 wires now...

You do NOT have a cdi restriction on your bike. I forget what year was the cut off but new does not have one.
Previous super 8s were not all 4t they used the mina derived 2t which had 5 wires on the late model and 6 on the earlier that had a rev limited cdi., this was introduced at the time the super 8 was created not later. The 4t was NOT discontinued in 2011. Im not sure where you get this information from but it is vastly wrong.

That was my guess.. It seems like there is only one restriction in the transmission, (besides the exhaust) particularly the variator roller. It doesn't have a problem to get up to 35, but once I hit that I hear a terrible grinding noise, which is the restrictor kicking in, blocking the full action of the variator.. I have a new derestricted roller coming in..

Ooops, I assumed wrong... I forgot, different countries, different models, different wires.... actually we don't have any 50 cc's here nor have even seen one... Even the lights are wired differently I suppose...  I stand corrected...

Sorry Vivo I forget you are in a far away land. You guys have more than a fair share of scoots, and models we never knew existed as well. I should have asked where he is.

No harm done!   ;)  We don't have restrictions here so 50cc's are just a waste of money... The smallest 2 stroke scoots presently on sale are 100cc like the Kymco Top Boy a.k.a. Cobra or Sym Jet ... no need for a BBK, just some tuning and a nice pipe...  The 50cc's we still see on the road are the old Dio's and Jogs...
