They rolled my new 200i LX into my garage at 5pm today. Was all set to buy the red one when I walked over to the far corner of the showroom to pick out my 'free' helmet and discovered 15 more scoots that my salesman never showed me. I called him over and said "I'll have this 2-tone LX, please~!"
Then...spent 2 1/2 hrs trying to sort thru their scambled lot of 500 or so helmets with a salesgirl . Poor kid knew little more than I did about helmets. "I understand that they are supposed to be snug, miss - but I'm bleeding from the eyes due to the pressure in here." I never thought that getting fit with a helmet would be harder than buying a scooter (and that was an adventure - -- "no, thanks I'll pass on the $665 extended warranty." "WHAT?!!, that's a big mistake!" I told him I'd sooner take that $665 and add it to my $2500 and shop for a bigger scooter. )
Anyway....I figured out I need a 3XL helmet, but only as produced by a very few manufacturers. After finding ONE that I could get my head in I walked out 2 + hrs later with no helmet - knowing that I needed more help than they could give me. OK, my head's in there, finally - but isn't there slightly more to this "fitting" business? I'm glad I left because I found a very good tutorial on helmet sizing on youtube

So, I have a pretty blue and white new Like LX in the garage - but can't ride it just yet.
Helmets are too important a purchase to be rushed - I know that much - so I will spend time teaching myself , on line, about helmets, and driving 50 miles visiting more dealers to try them on. I surely could have used some expert help at this --- one of Ohio's biggest-- dealers.
I'm gonna go back out to the garage now....and just look at her.
My wife said it'd be OK to sleep out there if I want.
