Crashed scoot already with only 54 miles on it
« on: April 07, 2013, 01:22:43 AM »
:-[... Long time lurker, first time poster. I made one of the fatal rookie mistakes by allowing my inexperienced brother try and ride the brand new scoot. He "forgot" it was automatic, and tried to use the grips to roll it off the center stand and into the street. Next thing I know, the thing takes off, dragging him alongside it and slams into the ground after traveling around 15 feet. He was lucky to walk away with some minor scrapes. The new agility was not so lucky. Smashed rear fender, gouges all down the left side, right rear turn signal hanging off, and various lines hanging off the bottom dripping fluid out. Its already back at the dealer and I'm waiting on an estimate to get her back to new. Let this be a lesson to us all, NEVER let Anyone ride your new scoot. Especially when they're inexperienced.

Dang! sorry to hear that!  Anyway, there's lesson number 2...   Never let anyone borrow your scoot EVEN if he is an experienced rider....   Why? an owner's TLC is really different from a borrower's... ;)

Vivo: more true words could not be said. In my local scooter club, one of our members let their friends borrow their 50cc scooter and the next thing you know it was stolen. As the owner of the bike one will do everything they can to treat the bike with care and make sure they do everything to protect their bike.

Estimate came back at 1200$. Nothing wrong with it mechanically, all the damage was cosmetic. I'm impressed by the durability. After all that it still starts right up and rides like a dream. I have it back home for now until all the parts arrive at the dealer.

Tfitz: Sorry to hear about that. That must really take the air out of you. Vivo makes a very solid point, don't let others use your scoot (even family) unless they have the cash to pay for it on the spot. The upside is that the Agility has too be the most popular Kymco here in the states & parts should come in right away. I needed a new plastic front fender for a GTI300 & I was amazed that it come in so quickly (within 5 days from my dealer) Good Luck!
