Removing crank case cover
« on: April 14, 2013, 04:26:15 AM »
Got my Jasil varistor and am attempting to put it in.  In looking at the manual it says the cvt cover has 9 bolts, I see 7 and have removed them around the perimeter of the cvt cover.  What an I missing?

Im not new to this removed mr ruckus swing arm/cvy cover may times.  Do I have to undo the kick start piece on this scoot?

I realize how stupid this question is and i may just need to pull harder on a never removed cover but i dont want to start tugging at pieces just yet.  I removed 7 all the same size.  What am I missing?

****edit I found 8**** I'm thinking the ninth is shared with the airbox

Well here's an agility 50 cover removal instruction and it only has 7 bolts. The first time out it might
stick to the gasket. A light tap with a rubber mallet might help...;

Wow!  So I miscounted last time and did have all 9 bolts removed. Gave it a love tap...nothing... about 8 more medium mallet taps and it finally started to come loose but was still very attached because of bely wear.  Clearly no one has ever been in this cvt before.  Poor Scoot.   Thanks MotoRandy

The rubber liner around the perimeter of the cvt case OEM part 181 was dry rotted and stuck/ torn.   Looks unavailable everywhere  :'(

Not really sure why they put a gasket on that, probibly to keep rain out?
It should be ok without one. Happy scooting!

Ha ha ha! I'll have to remember that terminology " a love tap" next time something needs belting with a hammer. When my son leaves loose bolts I say "tighten that, but don't swing on it" as he has an uncanny knack at shearing things off.

I think the gasket is about keeping water out, I always use a small dry paintbrush to sweep all the sh** out around the drive train when the cover comes off. Amazing how it builds up
