Amsoil "Scooter oil" or reg Amsoil??

My motorcycle (mostly) service guy sent me home with a qt of Amsoil 10/40 Synthetic, and a bottle of "Pro Honda Shaft Drive Hypoid Gear Oil 80W90 "
Then I see an advert for Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic 10W-40 "SCOOTER OIL" .

OK, I want to use the best stuff in my scooter (as I do in my cars) - using only  .9 QT and even less for the gears, it seems silly to me to skimp on these products. I don't plan on 'cleaning' my plugs either -at one plug per scooter I'll just run in a new one!

So, should I lay in a supply of the Amsoil "SCOOTER" oil ? And is the Pro Honda Hypoid  top-drawer stuff, as well?

Don't put the synthetic oil in the scooter on your first oil change.  It is too slick and won't allow the motor to break in properly, even though a majority of the engine break in happens in the first 50 miles.  I'll be switching to synthetic oil after I have 1,000 miles on my Like. 

As far as what oil to use, Amsoil is a good oil so I really don't think there would be a huge difference in the two different kinds of oil as long as you change the oil on a regular basis.  If you go with extended oil changes, or lots of miles in between oil changes then I think you'd see a slight difference. 

I too am using the Honda 80w90 gear oil and once again, as long as you maintain the scoot and change the fluids when you're supposed to then you're good to go.

Scooter specific oil (JASO MB rating) usually have friction modifiers and are lower friction compared to other motorcycle oils. Most motorcycles are wet clutch types and can't use the Scooter specific oils. Use Scooter specific oils for scooters.
