Comparison-2013 People GT 200i to People GT 300i

1st post- I'm a senior/life long MC rider(BMW 1150R) in the scoot market(want hwy tourer not urban scoot & "the big one" is too big for my liking) & my nearest Kymco dealer 25 miles away has a new 200i that I can test ride- but I would buy a 300i if a get a Kymco scoot. He will order in a 300i for $4,700 + sales tax.
How much will I learn about the 300i by looking at & riding the 200i?
How  does that price stack up compared to Kymco dealers within say a 1,500 mile radius of KY?
 I do my own maintenance beyond warrty. period.

I think you'll find the 300 far better or closer to the bmw ur use to riding, the 200i if im not mistaken is only 163cc and about 11 hp, tops out around 60 mph, the ride on my peoples 200 is ok but am thinking the 300 wil feel more solid and far more powerful. Dont know a lick about the pricing. And may even be wrong about the above opinion.

If you looking to tool around town the 200 is a great bike and can get you somewhere quick if you need to hit 50-55 for a stretch, but the 300 is far better suited for the highway cruise.

I have a GTi300 and the owner of the scoot shop told me to get a 300 instead of the 200, because the 300 is more steady and much more powerful than the 200. I love my 300 and I use it more than the other scoot I have. The 300 is more comfortable than any other scoot I tried out.

the 200i he is referring to is most likely the NEW GT model. if the "i" in the name is any indication. the GT part would make it obvious, but he did not put it in his post so who knows!

anyway Op if it is the new "GT" model then you will be able to tell much from it. from every indication it is exactly like the 300 except for the engine size. IF it is the old People 200 non "i" non FI and as 08087 noted, 163cc.....then its nothing like the 200i or 300i.

but otherwise if both GTi models both are practically the same except for the motor. if top end is what you're looking for the 300 is the way to go imo. but it is said the 200i is no slouch, either. depending on some factors, of course. so if test riding a 200i a 300i i should have even more top end if near satisfied with a 200i. and more punch down low, too

From all I can recall reading in my owners manuel the i and the s have the same HP output at just over 11 HP, I was shocked myself when I read this and fuel MPG was advertised as the same too. Go figure.

More comfortable than what other scoots? Also tell me your inseam & height/arm length so I can deduct for my fit.  If you are OK with saying what you paid-how did it compare to what I was offered? My price came from a phone conversation only, never have been in there yet to meet the sales guy.  My understanding over the phone was that the 2013 People GT 200i was on their sales floor now for me to test ride.
I would like to hear what others are paying for the new People GT 300i Please do not include sales tax or other state to state variables-just the actual cost & any dealer fees for titles/paperwork,freight,etc., that anyone would pay. Thanks for the replies so far!

On some other forums for various machines there is a Sticky for common topics. Not here? One I'd like to see is price related-the name could be "What did you pay for your Kymco,Model_______"? Then provide a template for information so we don't end up with state related fees and other unrelated monies.

  I bought a brand new 2012 GTI300 in New York State on 6 January. My actual cost out the door including registration was $4776.60. Of this amount $345.00 was sales tax. Scooter, all prep, and registration cost $4431.60.
  I'm 69 years old, 5'10", 210lbs. Inseam 30" arm length 34". Scoot has plenty of power and I'm very happy with it. With a Biondi windshield it's just right for me. I can see over the windshield, but the wind hits above my forehead on my helmet.

Where you at Kantuckid? I've never bought anything new and I wouldn't have it any other way. Motorcycles and scooters I only go through Craigslist postings by current owners for their used bikes.

I'm located in Eastern Kentucky, ~ 1 hour east of Lexington,KY in Appalachia-called the Cumberland Plateau .
As for buying new: I have owned a few new trucks-4 tundras & several cars over the years but mostly drove rebuilt high end Euro wrecks until last two cars(I'm getting too old to build them & the Chinese have driven up salvage car prices!).
 I've been riding MC's since 1963 & have never owned a new one. My current 2003 BMW was a typical garage queen MC and they are very commonly found in scoots too. I see scoots for sale all the time with under 500 or even under 200 miles. Most have only a few thousand miles. Many private sellers not knowing how to sell on their own price these out of reason with a new machine. Zero to none of these Kymco scoots for sale in national searches-I do see smaller Kymco's and several of the larger scoots from 2005-2009 but not the models I like at this point.
FWIW, I know how to use Craigslist search engines & actually have a few personal items listed on CL now. Do you need a set of bunk beds?
