Do you do the forward LEAN?
« on: April 24, 2013, 06:45:09 PM »
I was watching a little 50cc scoot the other day and it struck that when accelerating the rider would lean forward to the extream as if it would make the scoot go faster, LOL! Then I remembered back when I had my Honda Spree back in the 80's I did the same thing! Lol even more :).

Sure I know you cut down on wind resistance when you lean into the wind but even with the wind at this guys back he did the lean, is it just habbit or some internal thing that we think, "If I look fast I must be fast!"?

The forward lean! Lol! I thought for a minute that was a new dance craze....!   Anyway, I do lean forward only on full acceleration..Why? to prevent jerking backwards and slipping off the handlebars!! It almost happened once and that was scary... Leaning forward is making sure you're in control and on top of the scooter ... especially these 2-strokes... they jolt forward like on a slingshot... and if you're don't lean forward at WOT... you'll see yourself on the asphalt in a split second away from your scoot...

What Vivo said, but also if I'm in a quick sprint on my 125. I hit a curve on an overpass going 50 and it helps to get down in there and try to take the wind on my helmet rather than chest, and keeps me in position to handle my grip better.

Between lights on my 50... just very upright.

Yes I do!

When going down a long stretch of bridge, I crouch down in an almost race bike position below the small fairing on my Super 9 (50cc - No Mods.)  I try to get it up over 50mph, oh boy does that engine Zing!  20 seconds later it's over and we're having a cigarette!
