Will 125cc engine with in 50cc
« on: May 04, 2013, 04:47:13 PM »
We have a new 2012 Kymco Agility 50 scooter will a Kymco 125cc motor be a direct fit in it ? We have been looking at after market engines online. Nothing wrong with the existing motor. Looking for more MPH. Would a 70cc complete top end be advisable instead. Upgrading beyond 50cc is not possible due to local motor vehicle laws where we want to operate the vehicle.

Location?  Is your objective to register, license, and insure this scooter as a motorcycle?

Yes you can put a 125 on the 50 frame they both have the same motor mounts and fit nicely.

Thank you for your responses The state where we live scooters under 50cc do not have to be registered nor do the operators require licenses. Instead of building up the motor and over taxing the initial manufactures design the upgrade to the larger motor is the best option for us. Thank you again.

There's probably a 30 or 35mph speed restriction as well.  If you are riding a scoot going faster than that and get stopped . . . well, the cops won't care if your scooter WAS a 50cc scooter.

It'll probably be cheaper to get your motorcycle license and tags for the scooter after upgrading then paying the fine for having an unlicensed motorcycle anyway.

a 125cc is not a direct bolt on you have to weld in new mounts. I put a 150cc in my a50 and here in md cops don't seem to care. good luck!
