Used S200 or new Like 200i?
« on: May 31, 2013, 02:53:44 PM »
I'm looking at a 2009 People S200 with 5600 miles and trunk, asking price is $1800. Or, a new Like 200i for about twice that.

I'm leaning toward the S200 because of the price. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I grabbed my peoples200 w 770 miles for $1,600 last year, it also was an 09'. So for a bike 1 yr newer with far less miles I got $200 less then your offer. Talk them down!

I owned a People S200 for five years. They both have the same engine (163cc), the Like is FI & the S200 has a carb. The People S200 was bullet-proof if you took care of her. Meaning... if you used ethanol fuel treatment & Seafoam. I don't care for the size of the Like 200i, it's a great scoot, but a tad too small for me. The People S200 is great with it's 16" & larger frame. See if you can score her for $1500.00 or less (brand new it was $3300.00 when I purchased her in 2005)

The People S200 is was made in Taiwan & the Like 200i is built in China. No biggie either way if you ask me. The Like200i looks & feels "cheaper" then my old S200. Plastics are not as thick, mirrors are cheap & overall it's not as "high-quality" of a scoot from an exterior standpoint. But...It's FI which is HUGE!

Let us know which scoot you decided on. Good Luck!

If you're not concerned with riding a certain style bike, look around for a used 250 People. About the same price as a used s200, there are a lot of them around and you get a water-cooled 250cc engine that can pull freeway speeds if need be.
