S200 Sliders/Pulleys 18x14 13 gram
« on: June 24, 2016, 10:46:20 PM »
I bought a bike remotely that was originally going to be an S 150, but when I got the title it's actually an S200
The Sliders that are already at the dealer I'm picking this up from are 18x14 13 G.
I also have some 18x14 11gram rollers there as well with the thought to swap to those when riding in the mountains a bit.

Any reason I shouldn't use those in the S200?

that's the same size sliders I have bookmarked on Amazon (18x14 13 g)...I believe Stig has mentioned using 13g rollers in his like with same size motor. No reason not to use them...13 gram rollers is what our scooters came with from the factory.

Some will use lighter or heavier sliders while looking for better acceleration or higher top speed..give them a try and let us know how they work!!

Thanks for your help.

I'll try to remember to make a report.  If I don't blow it up it'll be quite the run.

I'm thinking to swap to the 11g's for the mountains, but suspect the standard sliders would be better for the bulk of it.

Hokay folks,

Just a quick update.
By hook and crook I didn't get the lighter rollers I wanted for mountain running, & wasn't able to get the Dr. Pulley's in until fairly late in the game but ran 'em about 1k miles out of 4k.
By the time I pulled 'em the stock rollers had essentially become sliders themselves.
Vs. the new stock rollers even before they wore flat spots
Top speed, roughly the same but you got there better and it held it better in terrain.
Acceleration.  Better, especially in the 30-40 mph range.
Climbing (serious stuff like passes).  About 10 mph better in all conditions.
MPG.  I did not measure it since I was working off a spare can, & the tank so it would have been tough to track, but if anything it was overall better than stock, but seemed in the same ballpark.

In short.  I'm a fan.

Cheers

Are you comparing badly worn stock rollers versus new ones? If so, practically anything would be an improvement. How many KM are on the belt?

Really both.  I had the bike at a hair over 500 miles and ended up doing Appalachia on the stock rollers, & factory belt.
Later I did most of Montana, ID, & WA on the new belt and sliders.
Of note, I lacked a micrometer, but have a pretty darn good eye, & the factory belt was still good, but since I was there it just made sense to put in the new one.
By that time the rollers had been squared off due to consistent high speed running.  I will note that the abuse I gave them was not the sort of thing the bike was designed for; however the sliders were still superior to how they performed new in my opinion.  At 1k miles or so I'm still impressed with them.
I would have liked to try regular rollers a couple grams lighter, but they didn't arrive with the rest of the stuff I ordered so I didn't get a chance to do that.
