My Dad was gung ho and joined the Marines in 42', served in the south Pacific, saw lots of action, never ever talked about it, it must have been bad. my uncle was smart and waited to be drafted, he served first occupation troops in Germany 45'-50', made tons of money in the process, talk about all his antics during his time served.

My Dad was a young boy then... worked as a helper in an American camp and worked part-time in a Japanese camp... helped feed his family... they were 16 children...   he also had a small boat to get G.I. Joes and Japs cross a river for a small fee....

I hope the Joes were chasing the Japs at the time and all going in the same direction.
