Oil? Gear oil?

So I got my first service done at 300 miles. I was thinking I should change the oil since I'm about to reach 600 miles. Just wondering what oil I should use? Is engine oil 10w40 and I heard gear oil is 75w90. What brand should I use? Thanks!

Any known brand will do. Gear oil, you can use 75/90, 80/90, or just 90. Engine oil Synthetic or Mineral depending on your budget. I use 15W-40 Mineral (for Diesel engines). Do you live in a hot climate?

I use am soil marine gear lube, my friends grandpa is a dealer and he said that marine gear lube has yellow metal additives that protect the gears in the gear case

bigjames,
I just use 80W90 gear oil I got from the local mower shop. Gear oil is a very heavy, thick weight oil, not to be confused with regular motor oil that is usually 10W40, 10W30, etc.

I have a DT 300i I find great results using synthetic for the engine I use Motul Power Scooter 5W40 I got it at Motorcycle Superstore for $11.97. Foe the rear gear oil I use AGIP 80W90 synthetic gear oil. These are one of the 2 best you can buy. The motul is specially designed for scooters up to 650cc. the gear just get a good synthetic motorcycle gear oil, it uses so little a bottle probably last you at least a year. Mr. Spark Plug.com has the iridium plugs for about $5.25 and that is the best for any bike, specially since you only have 1 plug make it a good one and no calibration.
