ANY Kymco scooter larger than a LIKE 200i >>>

Looking to replace my LIKE rear shocks with slightly longer ones - seems the best place to find specifications for the rear shock travel is in the owners manual. Mine does not list, but some Kymco manuals do - can you give me your info from your manual? Once I find a shock with good (= same or better than mine) travel will then search out its length. And if you have an old shock laying about - could you measure it  for me, hole to hole center.
Thanks

My crappy owners manual tells nothing of travel of the shocks.  I went through the service manual and nothing but installation and removal, torque specs and type.   Sorry.

Remove the front cover.
Remove the met-in box.
Remove the air cleaner case.
Remove the rear shock absorber upper and

I found the info for the Yager in the owners manual;

And I have this info from a preride inspection;

Shocks measure 12 1/2" on bike  12 5/8" off of bike
Top eye thickness 21mm  -  bolt hole 10mm
 Bottom U bracket  internal width  19mm  -  hole 8mm

Shock Springs
  Spring length 7"
   6 small spaced coils (9mm apart)  -  7 big spaced coils (15mm apart)  -  coil diameter 55mm
   Wire diameter 6mm

Thanks Moto,

Seems like only the Yager has shock travel info in their manuals....
And that wire thickness info will come in handy when I go searching shocks for my LIKE.
Several fellows have indicated they are not small guys and would like more suspension travel also.
How the deuce do you source that info - so will look into a 14" shock with thicker coils, or more of them, etc.
I guess I could go down to my dealer with a tape and a mic and crawl around on the carpet getting some measurements. I'm not above doing that if I have to. My parts seller can get me any Kymco shock, I just have to tell him which ones I want.

I'm not sure how you could get the info on many bikes. Someplace like RaceTech does it.
I had some listings for forks on motorcycles showing diameter and conventional or upside down.
I took the shocks off and measured them myself. We need to get more people to do it on all
the different scooters...

Here's a link to a guy testing his Aprilia scooter suspension;

Here's a link to some performance shocks (not sure if they really are?);

Here's some YSS shocks for my bike;

and the YSS site;

and more YSS (the one for the People 250 might work for you);

This guy is using CB350 shocks on his big Honda scooter;
http://www.ch250.net/techtips/26.htm

If you can find some of these for it they would work good. They're RPM from Taiwan;

Here's some Chinese shocks, not sure if they work or not;

I've been looking but haven't done much yet...

Thanks a bunch Moto!!
(That Aprilia guy was amazing)

You know what makes me crazy?
So many of these on-line places do not give you any details about the shock.
Coil diameter, wire thickness of the coil,, shock travel (never seen that one anywhere!), and the most important >>> the distance eye-to-eye !!.....crazy!

That's why I think I'm going to end up on my back with a tape measure down on my dealer's floor, crawling around the bigger Kymcos.

I saw that People YSS shock, and 2 days ago fired off an email for more info on it.
Trying to also pay attention to mounting hole sizes - some have adapters. The Like I'm pretty sure has 10mm top bolts and 8mm bottoms.(studying the part numbers  per my seller > http://www.kymcopartsmonster.com. I might try calling these guys - one time got a fellow on the phone who helped me. Seems like they're not far from KymcoUSA HQ)

Trying to stay away from racing shocks - just want a better ride for my weight, not trying to beat guys on a Ducati to Tim Horton's.
Who knew this would be such a trial?
Let's keep us all posted!
