2007 People S 50 2T stalling and losing power
« on: July 23, 2013, 10:53:43 PM »
Good day,

I recently bought a 2007 People S 50 2T for parts but decided to fix it. I got the everything working on it but when I start it and open the gas all the way it stalls like it is not receiving enough gas to the carburetor or the gears are not changing properly. If I go up a steep hill it lacks the power to pull the hill with me on it. I am not a mechanic but have an idea about fixing things. I am guessing it has something to do with the carburetor or the gears but not sure or how to fix it. I cleaned the carburetor so it is not dirt in the carburetor.  Any suggestions?

Your diagnoses is right.  Clean the carb jet as it is plugged with dry white powder that occurs when gas drys up.  You will need something smaller than a pin - use a strand of copper wire from and old extension or lamp cord.  Post your results when you finish.

Btw, all the bowl cleaning in the world will have no effect if the jet needle tube is clogged.  After you clean it try to shoot compressed air in it and soak it in an old glass or coffee mug in carb cleaner.  It still make take a little driving to smooth out.
